When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.  After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Using Cookies

Chef Stove uses “cookies” – data that is transferred from Chef Stove to your hard drive for record-keeping purposes. We use cookies to deliver content that matches your interests and to save your password so that you don’t have to re-enter it each time you visit Chef Stove. These cookies are valid for one year.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Juvenile Policy

Children should always ask their parents before submitting any personal information online. No information should be sent or posted on Chef Stove by minors (persons under the age of 18) without parental or guardian consent. Unless otherwise disclosed at the time of collection, we do not knowingly provide any Personally Identifiable Information about minors, regardless of its source, nor is this information knowingly used by Chef Stove for any marketing or promotional purposes. Minors are not permitted to participate in contests.

Chef Stove complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. If we learn that we have collected information from any child under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we will remove that information from our database as soon as possible. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment its metadata are saved indefinitely. It so that we can automatically recognize and approve any subsequent comments, rather than keep them in the moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also see and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal information we keep about you, including any data you have provided to us. You may also request the deletion of any personal information we keep about you. This does not include data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
